A Gut Day ("we", "the app") is a personal gut-health journal. This page is maintained by the app owner and explains what data we process, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@agutday.com.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), display name, optional age and language.
- Journal data you enter: meals, ingredients, symptoms, bowel movements, sleep, activity, notes, known intolerances.
- Optional inputs: meal photos, barcode scans and voice input, when you choose to use those features.
- Notification data: push subscription details, if you enable reminders.
- Technical data: basic logs needed to operate and secure the service.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
2. Health data
Entries about symptoms, digestion and food are health-related information. We process them only to provide the journal, statistics, patterns and coaching features to you. Your entries are private to your account.
3. Legal basis
We process your account data to perform our agreement with you, and health-related entries on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by creating entries and can withdraw at any time by deleting your data or account.
4. AI features
Features such as meal tagging, photo analysis, ingredient suggestions and the coach send the relevant entry content to an AI model provider to generate a response. That content is used to produce your answer and is not used to train public models by us. Do not enter information you do not want processed this way; these features are optional.
5. Processors we use
- Cloud hosting, database, authentication and file storage for running the app.
- An AI model gateway for the optional AI features described above.
- A web-push service for reminders, only if you enable notifications.
6. Storage, security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our hosting provider, and access rules restrict every record to the account that created it. We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your entries and profile.
7. Your rights
You can access and export your data (Settings → Data → Export CSV), correct it by editing entries, and delete your account and all associated data at any time (Settings → Delete account). You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing, and you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
The app is not intended for children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
9. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
